Keep Your Fast Food Coupons In Your Car

image

Like most people we try not to eat fast food too often. However, there are those days when we are tired or in a hurry that we give in to temptation and go with the easiest option of pulling into a drive through. When I work night shifts by the time I get off most people are already in bed and the last thing I want to do is cook. There also happens to be a Steak n Shake next door to my work. If you know that there is a fast food place that you sometimes stop at, it can be a good idea to leave coupons for their food in your car. I never know when I’m going to end up getting fast food but it doesn’t hurt to throw some money saving coupons in my car’s center console just in case.

Save Money on Toilet Paper at Walgreens in May

image

The only household paper product we buy is toilet paper. That’s right, no paper towels, napkins, paper plates, etc. But we draw the line at Toilet Paper. There are some things we aren’t willing to do to save money and going without toilet paper is one of them. One of the best deals we have found is Real Soft / Sunny Smile Brand Toilet paper at Walgreens that costs $5 for a 12 pack (Aldi has a comparable deal). This month in the Walgreens May coupon booklet you can save an extra dollar with their dollar off coupon. I have included printable link below if you can’t find the booklet that is usually in the front of the store.

Buy one 12 pack of Real Soft / Sunny Smile Walgreen’s Brand Toilet Paper
-$1 off Sunny Smile bathroom tissue 12 roll from the Walgreens May coupon book or printable
Cost After Coupons- $4 for a 12 pack or .33¢ per roll

You can also buy an 8 roll of Paper Towels for $4 but I don’t buy them so I don’t know how good of a deal that is-

5-2-13 Publix Shopping Trip

image
Before this shopping trip B and I sat down and planned out what meals we wanted to make for the month. Sometimes we do this on a weekly basis but this is the first time we have attempted a whole month. We aren’t picky eaters and do tend to eat a lot of the same meals each month but we do try to eat healthy. I ended up spending $99 which was most of my Free $100 Publix gift card but we saved $73 and hopefully we won’t need to buy many more groceries this month. This is a new strategy for us because we usually make several smaller grocery shopping trips rather than one big one and probably still buying a few smaller things here and there. We already have stocked up on A LOT of canned veggies and things like sauces from previous shopping trips this year when they hit rock bottom prices which means Rather than bore you with all of the things I bought (it was A LOT) here are some of the best deals from this shopping trip-

April 2013 Grocery and Household Item Budget

image

Another month has flown by! Although we did go slightly over our budget this month I’m still content with what we spent because this has been a crazy month! See our weekend update for more info on that!

April Totals-

Spent- $211.25

Saved- $116.86  (not including savings from stores such as Aldi and Dollar Tree which are hard to calculate)

Remember- This budget is for two adults and we eat almost all of our meals at home. This also includes all household items such as toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, etc.

We spent a little more this month just because we have been sooo busy that we didn’t have as much time to bargain shop but we did get some great deals on some things that we will be eating in the coming month.

Some of Our Shopping Trips This Month-

4-16-13 Publix Shopping Trip- Spent $19.94 and Saved $51.90

My sister had B1G1 free coupons that she found on some Physician’s Formula products at Target and she combined them with the $7 CVS extracare bucks for a really great deal. In addition there was a $2 off of $10 beauty purchase coupon printing at the CVS red coupon machine that would also add to this deal.

The Physician’s Formula BB cream also had $3 off coupons attached which was also a great deal but we don’t use this so we didn’t buy it.

Note- Today is Saturday as I post this so this is the last day for these deals. However, CVS runs this Physician’s Formula sale frequently.

Moneymaker Deal on Sunlight Dish Soap at Publix

imageWe got paid to buy this Sunlight dish soap at Publix today. They were .59 cents each and I used $1 off printable coupons from HERE. The overage went towards the rest of our grocery purchases. I needed to buy dish soap today anyways so I was especially excited to get it for free. I love when you need something and then there is a deal to get it for FREE!

Just in case you were wondering I already used half of one to fill up a soap dispenser before I took the picture.

Save 20% at CVS This Week

image

On the cover of the CVS flyer that I got in my Sunday paper this week is a 20% off coupon good on all regularly priced items and it’s good for a week. This makes me wish I had waited to buy my new can opener so that I would have gotten 20% off.

Recent Dollar Tree Finds- Garage Sale, Gardening and Kitchen Stuff

image

I love to go to Dollar Tree and look around. It’s fun to know that I can afford to buy anything in the store. Here are some of the things I found interesting from this trip.

1. Garage Sale Stuff- If you are planning on having a yard sale this summer Dollar Tree has you covered

image

2. Betty Crocker Kitchen Stuff- They have some really nice small kitchen gadgets all for $1
image

image

image

3. They have a lot of stuff for your garden if you are planning on planting a garden soon you might want to take a look. I especially liked the rectangular garden boxes because we rent and I want to be able to plant some vegetables anyways.

4-8-13 CVS Shopping Trip

imageI stopped at CVS today to pick up some prescriptions and I decided to pick up a few things.

I used my coupons for FREE package of CVS store-brand Alcohol Prep Swabs- $2.59 value
They didn’t have the CVS brand but they were nice enough to give me this brand instead.

I also got Physicians Formula Concealer on Sale at CVS for .29¢.

The last thing I bought was this can opener which I believe was $12.99. Ours broke and we needed a new one. I wish that I had been e-mailed a CVS coupon for 20% off before I bought it but it expired yesterday. However, this was still a savings over all but the cheapest electric can openers (like the one that just broke) so I figured it was worth a try before we break down and buy an expensive one.
