3-15-18 Thrift Finds- Baskets, Sperrys, Pillows

I had fun thrifting at my favorite local shop on half off day. I was excited to score these baskets for $1 each. I always need more storage in my sewing room.

I also bought these Sperrys for my sister but she decided I should sell them on ebay instead. We will see  how I do.

EDIT: These sold on Poshmark for $28 plus shipping.

I was able to buy some more clothes for work and life and a really cool elephant candle holder.

I was especially excited to buy this Coleman lantern. We had a rough hurricane season in FL this past year and this is the right time to start buying hurricane supplies when people forget that we might need them again next year.

I bought all of these pillows for $1 each. The left two will go great on our pool area. The two on the right turned out to be down pillows which won’t work for us so I was able to give them to my mom whose house they match better to begin with.

I bought the bento box lunch container on the left for $1 as I always pack my work lunches. The minions shoes are for my nephew. And the file organizer I got to organize lids in the cabinet.

2-18-18 Thrift Finds- Pop Up Fire Truck and Squatty Potty

I’m a bit late posting this. When my nephew comes to visit I try to have some age appropriate toys for him to play with that I can donate back or pass on after he leaves. The above pop out fire truck was a huge hit with the cats, probably more than my nephew.

This is the best time of year to buy boots, especially if they are only $2 each!

This funny ride on, spin toy was probably a little too much for a 1 year old so I’m going to hold on to it until his next visit. It was $3.99 at Goodwill.

The shirt is from Anthropologie and some other small items we picked up. The shirt and graphing calculator are to sell on eBay. The large reusable bag was FREE.

That white hunk of plastic is none other than an official squatty potty. I got it for $2.50 as someone I know wanted one. They aren’t $2.50 new and this one looked like no one had ever used it. You don’t actually go to the bathroom in it so it’s not a gross as it sounds but apparently there are some great commercials for this product.

2-3-18 Thrift Finds: Almost Free Yard Sale Shopping

Friends of ours were having a yard sale and I went with the puppy to visit them. They weren’t that far from closing and packing up and they loaded my arms with clothes. I believe I gave them $3 that they tried not to take. Most of the clothes fit us and it was less for them to take to the thrift shop.

They also took the below sweater off of a teddy bear and put it on the puppy. Where’s Waldo anyone?

Tons of Disney Stuff @ The Hope Chest Thrift Shop in Central, FL

One of my favorite thrift hops is The Hope Chest Thrift Shop in Ovideo, Fl. They receive tons of lost and found items from Disney! Check them out HERE and they have great sales for different days of the week including half off certain days.

1-15-18 Thrift Finds- Mini dog, Corelle and Singing Fake Birds

The puppy was a little confused by his new mini me but I found some good finds for cheap.

These trays were $1.50 each but still had the original Macy’s price stickers of $17.99.

I added to my set of these Corelle dishes but shattered the lid after making my first casserole.

I am always happy to find a Dave Ramsey book to sell or pass along. The robe above is Vera Bradley. The pink sweaters were for a hat sewing project for a march.

I snagged this Kenneth Cole rolling bag for $4. Thanks to built in obsolescence these bags no longer come with replaceable wheels so when the wheels are shot the bag can’t be repaired. I usually always have one I’m using and try to keep a spare for when it goes.

I also found another catchphrase portable console for work. And the BB8 was too cute to pass up.

I got some nice shirts, toys for Gimli and my 1 year old nephew and a book. The birds sing and move and are overall adorable.

12-20-17 Recent Thrift Finds – A Crazy Chair, Eco- Purses, Sheets

I had a lot of fun thrifting with my mother when she stayed with us for Christmas. Here are some of our finds. The cats love this crazy chair I bought for my office/sewing room for $5!!! My old chair was stuck at low and I couldn’t resist this cool chair when I needed a new one.

I got these express pants, dress skirt, and 9 West shoes for $2 each.
The below purses were $1 each. The one on the left is made from an old billboard. The middle one is an eco friendly brand.

The above small trash can was $2, some cheap toys for my nephew, $1 sandals and a $2 egg cooker.

Below is a brand new DSW carpet bag for $2.50, 3 purple mason jars, a sharper image star machine for my nephew and a 9 West glasses case. My glasses are 9 west and their case was too big.

10-01-17 Recent Thrift Finds

I have had some really great luck thrift shopping lately. Here are some of my finds!

I found the above cubes that make an end table/ side table for $7 and they match the dark wood furniture in my living room.

It’s not a great picture but I found the above baby toys which are all name brands and very expensive in the stores for about .50 cents each for my nephew.

I found the above Tommy Bahama shower curtain and towel set for about $4 and they perfectly match my bathroom. Shower curtains are so expensive new! I could sell this set on eBay but I decided to keep it since we have a lot of company in our guest bathroom and it really does match perfectly.

This salad keeper was only $1.

I got the above pet food dish set for about $3 total. They are adorable!

This rolling cooler was about $2 and we needed one to replace our old one.

I also got this brand new with tags pet bed for $2. You really can find great new items at thrift stores too!!!

8-14-2017 A Few Frugal Things – Moving to a Rental with a Pool

I am on summer break which is always exciting! We found a new rental house with a pool as the owners of our current rental have decided to sell.  We have been seriously farm hunting for over 8 months and have put in multiple offers but so far, no luck. It’s incredibly frustrating and we will likely have to rent for another year. That being said we, are really enjoying the pool in our new house and having a lot more space.

I took the puppy to the thrift shop today and found a couple of outside chairs for $9 each that fold up really small but can be used in both seated and laying positions. Now that we have a pool I we will definitely use them and can also fold them up to take to the beach. I saw the same chairs sold brand new today for $50-$100.

Moving is EXPENSIVE because of the deposits and higher rent we will now be paying. However, we are thankful to have a new rental home with a pool in a nice neighborhood.

Now that we have moved into a 4 bedroom house we don’t have enough furniture. I did find the above vintage table with leafs that fold out and it’s great for my new sewing table.

The house is definitely larger than what we need, however, the price was decent for the area and we wouldn’t have saved much by going for a smaller house without a pool. Having the extra rooms is a huge benefit because family came to visit 3 days after we move in. No pressure! There is a huge thrift store near our new place and also some really cool discount stores that I can scope out now that we have moved in.

Thrift Finds: $5 Magic Bullet

I was so excited to stop in at a small church thrift shop in my home town that has odd hours but great prices. My visit with my mom lined up so we decided to go. My best find was the above Magic Bullet blender for $5 with a LOT of accesories! I’m excited to make more smoothies with it!

2-7-2017 Donations and Thrifting

Today was half off with a professional ID day at our local thrift store. I had some good luck on a few things but didn’t buy very much.

I found:

  • 3 Baseball caps
  • An adorable baby play mat for my friend who is decorating her baby’s room in bee theme
  • A knitted minion hat for my baby nephew
  • Some small stuffed animals for Gimli Puppy
  • A pair of shorts for B
  • Some shirts for work

All for the bargain price of $13.

Gimli was so excited about his new Eeyore toy that he grabbed it before it made it into the picture.

I also donated 5 boxes of stuff to the thrift shop while I was there. It was very motivating and now I want to get rid of even more junk! I’ll never be a minimalist but we know we will be moving this year and I find that very motivating.

It might have been easier to donate to a Goodwill drive through but I would rather donate to this small local thrift shop that benefits the local community directly.
