End of Summer 2018 Thrift Finds- Suitcases and More

We didn’t realize until our last trips that our suitcase collection had been reduced beyond usefulness. We often give them to relatives and had to throw some away after breaking from age/use. So when we found this 3 piece matching set for $20 at the thrift shop (usually over $100) we bought them right away. I still need to find a couple of rolling suitcases that will fit in ever shrinking overhead bins on flights.

For less than $1 each we also bought some items for our nephews and a $2 NIB Slip and Slide. We couldn’t pass up the U.S. divers mask and snorkel for $2 because on our last cruise if we had owned a set or 2 we would have used them off of some of the islands we visited.

I really needed a new pair of sandals to replace a few that had broken at the end of the summer. Unfortunately, a couple of these pairs didn’t quite fit but a couple did. For $1, I can’t get upset either way but I have learned my lesson that if I’m buying shoes for myself and not to resell I should try them on. Note- I know some people are squeamish about thrifted shoes but I have been wearing them my entire life and have never had any kind of reaction.

I was pleased with finding some dressed and sweaters for less than $2 each.

This picture is showing the items I bought to sell on Poshmark and eBay including a Victoria’s Secret hoodie, Chicos skirt and hippie vest. All less than $2 each.

Other small items I bought.

Can’t pass up a less than $1 Peppa Pig for the nephews.

These video game art books caught my eye and I took a moment to look them up and sure enough they sell for decent prices on eBay. Now if only I can find the time to list them.

B found this brand new in box keyboard for $2.

I also bought these fun shower curtains for my mother for about $1 each.

7-31-18 Thrift Finds- Jeans and Legos

I also got this giant bag of Legos which had a lot of Star Wars guys in it. It’s already listed on eBay here.

EDIT: These Legos sold on eBay for $33 including shipping. I could have gotten more if I broke up the set but I didn’t have time.

I had really great luck this trip with Lucky brand jeans and True Religion jeans for $2.50 each! Some were our size and some are to sell.

I also got a lunch box, a rolling bag for $4, and some small stuff that will be Christmas gifts including a Lego H&M super hero hat for my nephew. I go through so many professor rolling bags because most are made so that you can’t replace the wheels and the wheels wear out long before the rest of the bag. This bag, you can replace the wheels but the material is already fraying! Someday I will find a bag that lasts longer!

When I am thrifting I always keep my eyes open for like new rugs and towels and this trip I got lucky. I got two matching towels and rugs that didn’t seem like they had ever been used. The towels are super thick and a nice brand and the rugs are memory foam and we have already been using the rugs in the kitchen. They are nicely padded for our feet over our tile floor. Unfortunately, this dark color shows lots of dust and pet hair.

The candle holders match our living room but I haven’t decided where to put them yet. Our house has a lot of really nice accessories that were all dirt cheap from the thrift shop. I love the boho dress in the middle and the shoes were $1 a pair for Vans and Toms and are already listed on Poshmark.

Update- The Floral Vans sold for $22+ shipping on Poshmark and the lace Toms sold for $25 + shipping.

Install the free Poshmark app now! https://bnc.lt/focc/U4Rli43x3O Sign up with code NELISEY to get $5 off your first order!

I also purchased a pair of gap jeans and black Express for $2.50 each, one pair for me and one for B. I got a new in package apron from Ikea. I have been wanting an apron and it came with a funny pillsbury dough boy type hat. I also got a Nintendo handheld thing for $2.50. Also a stack of hats for summer. Also a book for my nephew and a set of 6 matching curtains for my mother who needed a set for her front window. The beware of dog sign is a joke. Oh and I also got a new in package set of stainless steel straws.

7-27-18 Thrift Finds- Clothes and Bookshelves

Some smaller finds this week. I found a really nice rug ( don’t mind the blurry picture) and some cute clothes. All less than $2 each

Update- The above Reebok sneakers sold for $27+ shipping on Poshmark.

Shoes were $1 each and I also got some small Christmas stuff.

I bought the above hoodie and overalls for $2 and $2.50 each to sell but when I got home I realized that neither had size tags. My brother got a nice hoodie and I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the overalls.

Update- The above overalls sold for $28+ shipping on Poshmark even without the tag and my brother wears the hoodie all the time.

The books on the left were free and I will give them to my nephew for Christmas. I bought butterfly pics for the guest bedroom, brand new socks for B, and a wooden cover journal for my aunt.

All small stuff $2 or less. A battery operated lamp for hurricane season. A ladle and new shot glasses because we needed them for the kitchen AND a laser toy for the cats and puppy. Unfortunately, the laser moves too fast for them to chase it but I might try attaching a toy to the top LOL

This pic is horrible but these two matching, solid wood bookshelves were a steal. They originally wanted $55 each for them but it was half off day and I had a 10% off coupon. I even paid $35 to have them delivered and it was still a great deal! Now to unpack our books that haven’t been unpacked since we moved a year ago!

5-31-18 Rummage Sale Finds- Coats, Coats, Coats!!!

UPDATE- I paid $40 for 4 giant bags of stuff at that rummage sale, already sold 1 pair overalls for $38, now these for $45, I have the 3rd pair of overalls listed AND I am currently using 8 other items I got in my house, and I have a bunch more to list from that sale including the ann klein coats!!!! I frickin LOVE thrifting!!!!

I had way, way too much fun at a local church rummage sale on a Wednesday of all days! It was the first day of the sale and there was so much stuff! The above pictures are of the sale! I didn’t arrive until about an hour before they closed when I saw a sign on the side of the road on my way home so I didn’t want to stop shopping long enough to take better pictures.

Everything I bought fit into these 3 XL reusable bags. They threw in the bags just for free.

The above photo shows some of the small stuff I bought including 2 giant candles, a pottery barn tray, etc. Most items were $1 each.

The above vintage coat is amazing! I love it but I will probably sell it but it definitely needs to be dry cleaned but I think it will be worth it.

The above is a London Fog coat for $2 to resell.

The above is a another amazing coat for $2 to resell. The fur is fake. I love animals.

The above are Anne Klein full length, 100% wool coats for $2 to resell. All of the coats I hope will sell for $40 to $100 each online.

Above are 3 pairs of overalls including one pair of Carhartts that were $2 each and are already listed for sale on Poshmark for about $40 each.

EDIT: The middle pair of overalls sold for $45 + shipping and the 3rd pair sold for $38 + shipping.

The puppy was excited about his new blanket! How he always knows exactly what I have bought for him is a mystery.

These Bobs and Toms shoes were $2 each. I should have passed on these for resale but oh well. Not every item is a winner.

Thrift Shopping Heads Up- It’s time to look for Boots!

This is officially the time of year where the weather starts to warm up and that means it is also a great time to buy boots at Thrift Shops. I have bought all of the above pairs for next year in the past month. They were $1 or $2 each and because I have room to store them until next year it will save me a lot of money! Not to mention that I love boots and generally wear through them in one season.

5-4-18 Thrift Finds- Clothes, Clothes, Clothes (Now to Sell!)

I bought a huge bag of clothes for about $30 including everything in the below 6 pictures. The goal is to sell these items on eBay and Postmark.

Update- The above black and red Adidas kids tracksuit sold for $18+ shipping on Poshmark. I didn’t have much luck selling the rest of the kids clothes.

I bought the above 3 outfits for my nephew.

The below 5 photos are from about 5 different thrift trips. They are a mix of stuff for us and to sell. All clothes cost $1 or $2 or less besides 1 maxi dress that was $3.

Update- The above floral maxi dress sold for $20+ shipping on Poshmark.

Wish me luck with my online sales!

5-10-18 Thrift Finds- Armillary Sphere

I have wanted an armillary sphere for almost 8 years but they are so darn expensive! Today I found the above one at the thrift shop for $5!!!!

The stuff below is from a couple recent thrift trips! All clothes were less than $2.50, most $1 each.

I found a couple of cool books for my one year old nephew, a couple tiny stuffed animals for the puppy, a marble utensil holder for a dollar fifty, and a Yeti style coffee mug for a dollar!

This picture shows everything I bought to sell including a J crew suit jacket for $2, Hollister jeans for $2.50, two little girls Reeboks shirts, and a Nike Dri-FIT pair of shorts.

The Pug leggings are actually H&M brand and I also bought them to sell. The Star Wars shirt I am also going to list for sale but if it doesn’t sell I’m going to use the fabric for my Star Wars quilt. The dress and skirt I bought to wear to work for myself.

Update- The Pug leggings sold for $8+ shipping on Poshmark.

I got the little makeup mirror that lights up with the cord for about $2 and then I got the Buddhist sculptures for $2 each.

4-13-18 Thrift Finds- Planet Drinking Glasses and More

I bought the above planet drinking glass set for $7.50. I wanted to keep it but they are selling for a decent amount on eBay and so on eBay they go! I also believe they would quickly get broken at my house.

EDIT: These planet drinking glasses sold on eBay for $61 including shipping.

I bought the MK jeans and Kardashian dress to sell on eBay, they were $2 each.

I also got some cute toys for my nephew for $1 each or less.

EDIT: The Harley shirt sold on eBay for $18 plus shipping.

More clothes for work and to sell, all $2 or less each.

I bought these adorable little girls clothes to sell for less than $1 each. The Merimekko dress is from a sought after designer.

B needed new shoes and I got these for $1 each.

More clothes for work and to sell, all $2 or less each.

EDIT: The pink Lane Bryant suit jacket sold on Poshmark for $25 plus shipping.

The curtains were for my mother and were $5 for 2 panels.

4-21-18 Finds From 2 Rummage Sales and 3 Neighborhood Yard Sales Including Hand Carved Wooden Chests and a Flatscreen

I had way, way too much fun going to 2 rummage sales and 3 entire neighborhood garage sales! And all within a few minutes of our house.

I was especially excited with the above carved wooden chest that I paid $30 for! They are about 2 feet high when stacked (I mention this because my family thought they were jewelry boxes from the picture). I have wanted some like this for a long time but wasn’t going to pay hundreds of dollars for them. They are (supposedly) hand carved from Bali, Indonesia.

I was also excited to find this Central Fl History book! It was a quarter.

I got 3 Chive On shirts for .25 cents each to sell online.

EDIT: These 3 shirts sold for $15 + shipping on Poshmark.

I also got this box full of clothes to sell online that were .25 cents each or .50 cents each. I probably spent about $8 total and we will see what profit I can turn that into.

We got this small HD flatscreen TV with a remote for $5. I wanted a little TV for the office (when I’m listing all the clothes!) so this is perfect.

I love the above whitewashed, wooden, carving wall hanging. I haven’t figured out where to put it yet but we have a lot of empty walls.

I got those two plastic storage contains for $1.50 for both.

The mirror and bag of marvel toys were $1 each and came with about 30 free hangers that I need to hang the clothes I’m selling.

I got quite a few nicknacks too including a miniature, ceramic bathroom set, an hour glass necklace, an anthropologie, elephant, ring holder dish. My mom told me to look for antique, bronze baby shoes and I got the above one for .50 cents and there is an actual baby shoe inside. I think it’s super creepy.

I picked up some other small stuff too like the bag.

I was also very excited about this $5 dresser. It’s ugly and a little dirty but I really think that it will be perfect when I’m done with it and it’s summer so it’s a good time for a project.

4-03-18 Thrift Finds- Dress Pants and Clothes

The puppy always wants to see what I have bought!

I found some clothes and some more shoes! The boots are great for wearing while I am teaching in the winter. I have worn through several pairs already and was looking at buying another pair for $50 so finding these for $1 is amazing! They are Croft & Barrow brand and have memory foam padding!

They gave me my stuff in this cool bag for free! I will save it for a future gift.

I got a battery operated fan new in the box for hurricane season. I paid $1 but these things sell for over $30 during the season. I got a book of herbs, a gift bag with dachshunds on it, a glass fish, and a bunch of doggy clothes patterns.

I also got a few things to sell. The cute little girls dress, Ralph Lauren Polo boots and a Chico’s cape (it didn’t photograph well).

EDIT: The blue boots sold on Poshmark for $35 plus shipping.

I am pleased with the top dresses and skirt but the PJs ended up not working. I am going to give them to my mother.

I am especially excited for the above two pairs of Kenneth Cole dress pants. They fit me perfectly and don’t need to be hemmed. The pants with buttons are from Express and also fit great but need to be hemmed. I plan on going through all of my dress pants this summer and only keeping the best ones. I also have several pairs sitting, waiting for me to hem them.
