One thing I love to do with my surplus coupon stash is to make gift baskets. Although I didn’t do a great job photographing it, this is a small gift basket I made for some friends of our when they moved into a new place. Most of the items in it are practical- shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, razors, comet, hand cream, soap, and a bunch of other items. When you first move, practical personal care and cleaning items can be especially helpful. I also like to give these to people as practical holiday gifts or if I want to help someone out. It cost me almost nothing and my friends told me that they really liked their gift and that they already used almost everything in it.

I’m very excited that P&G has once again decided to do their annual Pink Cookware Set deal! I have done this deal for the past two years and will do it again this year. All you have to do is purchase $30 worth of P&G products before coupons from 9/30/12 through 10/31/12 and mail away for it. Kohl’s recently sent me a free $10 gift card in the mail (in the photo on the left) and I found this 15% off coupon in their ad this week that came in the Sunday paper. I really needed a new pair of running shoes and I thought I would take a look. I found a pair of Nike running shoes on sale from $59.99 for $44. I used both coupons and they saved me about $16. Thankfully I had a couple of Kohl’s gift cards that covered the rest. I generally treat gift cards like cash. If I wouldn’t buy it if I didn’t have a gift card I wouldn’t buy it with a gift card. I have had the two Kohl’s gift cards for over a year each but I just didn’t need anything before now. I love my new running shoes and I especially love that they didn’t cost me a cent. 🙂
When I went to Dollar Tree yesterday I was given this flyer advertising 10% off of a $10 or more purchase on Oct. 7th. That will make everything in the store .90¢ but I’m sure they will be busy! With coupons this will be an even better deal. I might check it out.

Recently cashiers at both CVS stores by my house randomly told me that they are now accepting expired Extra Care Bucks (CVS Store Dollars). I thought that was great because I was having a very busy month and did very little CVS couponing. However, a few days ago I went back to CVS to spend $2 ECBs that had expired about a month ago and I was told that while they did take them, a month was too long. They will take them expired but they still want you to be within two weeks of the expiration date. Good to know. If only they had told me that the first time…
I have been wanting to try the Natural Method Laundry detergent for a while now but when I can get a decent size bottle of regular detergent from Dollar Tree for $1 I find it hard to justify the expense of about $11 a bottle. Therefore, I was excited when I realized that many of the method products at my local Target store had $2 off Method Laundry Detergent peelie manufacture coupons without a size restriction. Today, I ran to Winn-Dixie because it is the closest grocery store to my house (even if it’s not the cheapest) but not before I checked the Ad to scope out the best deals.

I was very pleased with these deals! I sometimes find Winn-Dixie to be more expensive but they do have good sales on certain items.
