11-24-11 Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday at CVS

These are my “Black Friday” deals at CVS. The deals actually started Nov. 24th at midnight so I went at about 1:30am because I didn’t want to be there right at midnight to fight the craziness but I am night owl. The employees at the store told me I just missed the huge line that had extended to the back of the store. This actually worked in my favor because there was almost no one in the store and the staff was great about helping me do multiple transactions, which I usually don’t do.

I was excited because they still had almost everything in stock. I didn’t have a preplanned list of transactions because I know that often they will be out of one item that forces you to redo your plan in the store anyways.

My strategy was this, collect all of the items I was going to buy and then, because almost all of the items were free after ECBs (CVS dollars), I split them into transactions of as close to $15 as I could get so that I could keep reusing the $15 ECBs so I had a much lower out of pocket cost.

I started with $5 ECBs from earlier this week. The only transactions I used coupons on, besides for store dollars, were the first two. The items in the first transaction were the ones that I would make a profit off of or get back more store dollars than cash spent. I did this intentionally because that way I got my initial $15 ECBs for only about $4 out of pocket and the rest of the money I spent on the other transactions was mostly tax or the slight difference in balances and ECBs from the previous transaction.

Transaction #1

Spent- $4.68 Saved- $13.74

Transaction #2

Spent- $1.36 Saved- $20.22

11-22-11 CVS Shopping Trip

You are able to get a really fantastic deal on Garnier Products at CVS this week. I used Garnier Nutritionist Skin Renew Daily Moisture Lotion every day. At around $14 for a 2.5oz bottle, I have thought about using something cheaper but this works great for me. It doesn’t leave my skin greasy, it doesn’t clog my pores, and it has an SPF 28 which is higher than most cheaper lotions and living in FL it’s important to protect your skin from the sun. The point is, this is a product that I am willing to pay a little more for but that doesn’t mean that I don’t still look for deals on it when I buy it. Everyone has products they can’t live without so keep your eyes open for great deals!

Today, the deal I did was-

Transaction #1
Bought- 1 Excedrin 8 Count .99¢
Total- .99¢
Received- .99¢ ECB and $1 ECB from using my green bag tag

Transaction #2
Bought- 2 Garnier Nutritionist Skin Renew Daily Moisture Lotion- On Sale for $10
Coupons Used- $5 off of $20 Skin Care Purchase Printed From the CVS Coupon Printer
– $5 off of $15 Garnier Purchase Printed From the CVS Coupon Printer
– (2) $1 off Garnier Moisturizer Coupons from RP 11/06
– The $1.99 CVS ECBs from the 1st transaction
Total- $6.92
Received- $5 CVS ECBs

Totals for Both Transactions-
Spent- $7.91
Saved- $19.97
Still Have- $5 CVS ECBs
That’s like spending $2.91 for all of the items!

Note- I’m always trying to get as much free stuff as possible. When I go to CVS and Walgreens knowing that I am going to spend a certain amount of money I always look for items that are free after store dollars like the Excedrin was today. I didn’t spend any more money buying that item than I would have otherwise spent at the store. I used the store dollars I received towards my larger purchase because I was going to spend the money anyway. It simply allows me to get more for my money.

11-5-11 Free At CVS This Week

This week CVS’s Coupon Machine was giving out coupons for free Illy coffee drinks. *TIP* We had to scan our cards twice for the machine to print the coupon. I have noticed that if you scan your card twice it will often give you different coupons. The Dawn dish soap was on sale for .99¢ and I used .50¢ off coupons from the 10/30 RP to make them .50¢ each. I had $1 CVS bucks which I used to make my total for these three items .02¢. Getting stuff for pennies is my favorite way to shop.

CVS Free Candy Corn This Week – 10/23/11 to 10/29/11

Cost .99 cents. Receive .99 cents ECBS (Extra Care Bucks- CVS dollars). Equals Free!

10-20-11 CVS Clearance Shopping

We went to CVS today hoping to get coupons from the coupon printer for $1 off (which =s free) NYC nail polish. We didn’t get the coupons but we did stumble across a 90% off sale on some items. I got the items below, some of which will be Christmas presents, for a total of $2.57 and I used the $2.50 I had in ECBS (CVS bucks) to get all of them for .07 cents. I saved $25.00. Not too bad.

9-25-11 Couponing Trip

Sunday I was excited when I woke up and found that attached to my two copies of the newspaper were six mini boxes of cereal!

Saved- $60.00

I’ll be able to use the CVS dollars on my next trip and because I spent less than I received back it was like getting everything I bought for free!

Publix

At Publix I got a lot of great deals. I looked at the weekly sales and both the yellow and green coupon booklets that are currently out. I did a lot of deals and also bought a few things that we needed even though there weren’t coupons for them. It has been a long time since I have done a large couponing trip for groceries. Those tend to be the most time consuming because there are the most items. After the results I had I know why I should do them more often.

Spent- $34.53

Saved- $65.94

To see the coupon match ups for any of the Publix deals I did please visit

1 Green Bag Tag

Received- $8.99 ECB

That’s- $4.37 Profit

Saved- $9.29

When I scanned my CVS card at the CVS coupon machine it printed out a coupon for a free Green Bag Tag (see above picture). I love anything free but green bag tags actually pay you! Every four trips to CVS that you use a reusable bag and scan your green bag tag instead of polluting the environment with a plastic one you get $1 ECB (CVS store dollar) to spend in the store. I often find that things that are good for your wallet are also good for the environment.
