1/3/2011 Shopping Trips

Today was a day full of couponing. There were a lot of good deals at local stores on stuff that I needed for my household and things that we will use. This is how I generally do my grocery and household shopping which is why you will see items that I bought that weren’t free (like the watch battery at CVS).

CVS Shopping Trip

The deals I did at CVS were-

– $10 ECB (Extra Care Bucks aka CVS dollars) WYB $20 any Excedrin Products Limit 1

– $7 ECB WYB any (2) Revlon Cosmetics or Beauty Tools Limit 1

– $2 ECB WYB GE Energy Smart 40, 60, 75 or 100 watt equivalent, 1 pk., $3.99 Limit 1

– $5 ECB WYB $10 listed Listerine, Rembrandt or Reach items: Limit 2

-To make these even better deals I used a variety of coupons including 2 free Excedrin coupons and 1 free Always 18 pack coupon (To see these deals with coupon match ups visit www.southernsavers.com)

– Coffee on sale for $2.50 and I used a $1 off coupon

– A Duracell Watch Battery which I needed (buying this battery was a lot cheaper than having to buy a new watch)

– 2 Bags of Chocolate Covered Pretzels $1.49 each (Christmas clearance)

– I also used a $5 off a $25 dollar purchase CVS coupon

Total- $28.40

Used- $3.01 on a gift card

Total- $25.39

Received- $24.00 Extra Care Bucks (CVS dollars)

Saved- $56.61

That’s like spending $1.39 for all of these items because I will roll my CVS dollars and use them on things I need or the deals I do next week. Just a side note- If I hadn’t bought the watch battery I would have gotten back the same number of extra care bucks that I spent. I could have made this deal better by spending less out of pocket if I had made multiple transactions and used the extra care bucks I got to pay for my next purchase but I didn’t have the time to do this.

Walgreens Shopping Trip

I went back to Walgreens today and did the same deal I did last night two more times.

I spent- $3.24

Saved- $25.74

Received- $18.00 Register Rewards (Walgreens Dollars) and two coupons for Free Breathe Right Nasal Strips

That’s a profit of $14.76 to spend on other things

Walgreens Gift Cards

It always amazes me how many good deals you can find when you keep your eyes open. I walked out of Walgreens today and met a girl selling newspapers for the Orlando Sentinel. I know that the price for the Sunday paper subscription was a good one because I have looked into subscribing to the paper.  I buy several copies of the paper every Sunday for the coupons and I think it would be nice not to have to leave the house to get them. Subscribing is also cheaper than buying papers from the store. I received two $5 Walgreens gift cards when I subscribed twice at the discounted rate.
