Candy’s Recent Designer Goodwill Finds

SAM_3225This post is by my sister Candy who is a frugal fasionista. She knows designer brand names and always finds the best designer deals!

For years my mother, sister, and I have been thrifting but more recently I have become obsessed with shopping at Goodwill. One of my goals for this year was to shop for all my new clothes at Goodwill and other thrift stores in my area. Instead of going straight to the mall when I need a new shirt or dress I head to Goodwill, which is conveniently a few minutes away from my local mall. Also there is a Goodwill on the way to the university I attend. Also the stores in my area offer a 10% off student discount which I always take advantage of. Here are some of my recent finds:

Toms Wedges-Retail 69.00 I paid. 5.99 . When I first tried them on they were a little tight but I bought them anyways because I was determined to squeeze my feet into those wedges. A few weeks and sore feet later they are probably the favorite pair of shoes I own.

Now I have been wanting these Kino sandals for about four years now but they are only sold in Key West or online and “ain’t nobody got time” to take a trip to the keys for 13 dollar sandals. I got mine for $3.99. Not necessarily as cheap as I would have liked but I have no intentions of taking a vacation to the Florida Keys anytime soon.

This is a Kathy Von Zeeland purse I recently purchased for $3.99 at Goodwill. This is my second purse of this brand and the first one I have was $30 on clearance at Marshalls, but I received it as a gift. I love this purse and I am currently using it.

The next item I am really happy I bought. I recently took a trip to Kentucky. While there my family and I decided to go to Goodwill. This was literally the worst Goodwill I have been it. Super sketchy but I found this amazing H&M coat for $5. (It looks a lot lighter in the first picture, the second picture is closer to the actual color)

SAM_3231(1)One of the best items to buy at a thrift store is books. I never pay full price for text books or books I read for entertainment. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now but I just hadn’t found it at an affordable price. Then I found it at Goodwill and .99 cents is good for me.

Keep in mind with all of these items I also received 10% off with my student discount for showing my student ID. I love shopping at Goodwill but I also do my part and donate whatever items I have at home that my family members or I do not need.

3-19-13 CVS Couponing Trip

imageTonight I quickly ran to CVS at almost midnight when I got off of work. I wanted to take advantage of the cheap Finish deal, especially after paying $3.99 for dishwasher detergent when we ran out, because it really does seem to work a lot better than cheaper dishwasher detergents. I also wasn’t sure when else I would be able to make it to the store. I like shopping at the 24 hour CVS in the middle of the night because there usually isn’t anyone else in the store and the cashier’s don’t feel rushed when you hand them coupons.

So here are the deals I did-

Note- I bought this first so I could use the ECBs on my next transaction

Yard Sale Find $1 Lanterns

image I recently stumbled across some Moroccan lanterns that I fell in love with! I may end up saving up my free amazon.com gift cards from Swagbucks.com (see Why I Print My Coupons Through Swagbucks) to buy some but in the meantime I was really excited to find these metal and glass lanterns at a yard sale for $1 each. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them yet but I have a bunch of tea light candles that I can use with them.

Recent Thrift Shop Finds

image

My life has been a little less hectic lately so I’ve been able to go thrifting on a couple different days. I love thrifting because I often find things that I would have paid full price for but instead I pay quarters. Here are some of my favorite recent finds.

I loved the shoes in the above picture and they were actually in my sometimes hard to find size. They were only $2.25

We are going on vacation soon and I realized that my brand new suitcase was too big for the plane (it’s the black suitcase in the background). I was upset because I wanted to take my brand new suitcase on the trip without paying a $75 oversized luggage fee. However, I realized that this wasn’t going to happen and I was really excited when I came across this slightly smaller, red, rolling suitcase. It does have some marks on the outside (I believe from a plane flight conveyer belt) that is would have probably gotten from our flight anyways so I wasn’t concerned about that. The inside however, is very clean which is what really matters in my book. And it was only $9.99 which is $50 less than I thought I was going to have to spend.

imageI also picked up some really cute tea cups and a wooden holder $.49 for all 5 items, reusable baking cups that are usually really expensive for $.99, and an Orlando Magic noise maker $.49 (Go Magic!!!).

imageI also got really lucky today when it came to clothes. I got a pair of Pac Sun jeans for work for only $1.99, a pair of new looking black pants for $1.99, a wet suit shirt for $.99 and a Little Bo Peep halloween costume for $1.99.

imageI was really happy to find these books out of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. I rented them from the library to read them but they were really good so I wanted my own copies. I knew I would find them at a thrift shop sooner or later and today there they were for $.25 cents each!

My “Easter” Party Favors

I got a great deal on these “Easter”  party favors recently at 10 packs for $1 because they were mislabeled. I think it’s hysterical and I’m kind of sad no one will be in on the joke once I take them out of the packs. I know there haven’t been many updates lately because I have been getting ready for my Halloween party but things will pick up next week 🙂 Happy Early Halloween everyone!

Couponing Gift Baskets

One thing I love to do with my surplus coupon stash is to make gift baskets. Although I didn’t do a great job photographing it, this is a small gift basket I made for some friends of our when they moved into a new place. Most of the items in it are practical- shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, razors, comet, hand cream, soap, and a bunch of other items. When you first move, practical personal care and cleaning items can be especially helpful. I also like to give these to people as practical holiday gifts or if I want to help someone out. It cost me almost nothing and my friends told me that they really liked their gift and that they already used almost everything in it.

P&G Pink Cookware / Kitchenware Set Free with $30 Purchase

My $2.47 Publix Deal for the Free P&G Cook Set

I’m very excited that P&G has once again decided to do their annual Pink Cookware Set deal! I have done this deal for the past two years and will do it again this year. All you have to do is purchase $30 worth of P&G products before coupons from 9/30/12 through 10/31/12 and mail away for it. The first two years after coupons I have only paid $2 or $3 for my $25-30 worth of P&G products and still qualified for the sets. Click HERE to go to their site for more information. You can go directly to the Publix mail in form HERE.

I use these items every single day in my kitchen. I LOVE these items and they are all high quality.

Check back because I will be coming up with a list of deals that will help to qualify you for the Cookware set. As I have said the first two years after coupons I have only paid $2 or $3 for my $25-30 worth of P&G products and still qualified for the sets. This year I hope to do the same.

This is my set from last year-
